I was born and raised in St. Louis, having a passion for building things that began back in my sand box days. While attending high school I studied mechanical and architectural drafting classes and intended to pursue a career in carpentry after graduating. The economic recession of the 1970’s resulted in a lack of jobs in new home construction and a detour in my plans. I found part time work with a couple of small general contractors, and worked in a hardware store while attending Florissant Valley Community College. I continued to do any type of small job that involved carpentry, drywall, painting, plumbing and electric repairs, and over the years became very proficient in many different skills.

After completing a civil engineering technology degree, I went to work for a consulting engineering firm performing design and drafting on subdivision site-work. Eventually I specialized in commercial plumbing and fire protection design and worked several years as a designer draftsman. While working in engineering, I frequently performed small construction jobs for fellow employees, and always remained interested in building construction.

I met my wife Ann at the first engineering company that I worked for. We were married in 1984 and soon afterward I quit my engineering job and went to work for my father-in-law who had a small custom home building business. I had the opportunity to do get involved in all phases of carpentry and project supervision work as well as concrete, tile, drywall and other various jobs on a variety of challenging projects.

I founded my company in 1986, and was able to gain early recognition from project architects such as Mitchell Wall, Dick Busch, and Lauren Strutman. Eventually I became involved in progressively more challenging projects, working on one job at a time as a carpenter and superintendent. Architects that I work with have come to know my jobs by the attention to detail that has become standard practice on our projects. I also enjoy working out the various interior millwork details with our clients, and making the drawings necessary to fabricate and install these elements.

Ten years ago I took off the tool belt to allow full time project supervision and management. Over the past twenty years I have assembled an extraordinary team of dedicated, professional, and experienced craftsman in all the various trades that echo my uncompromising commitment to quality. Each one of us takes tremendous pride in creating the finest unique homes for clients who expect and appreciate impeccable workmanship and detail. Our goal is to always build with a passion that culminates in a finished product that exceeds our client’s expectations.
